EVERY ACTORS DAILY DIGEST:
Every Actor/Actress has the responsibility of keeping up with the new trends, movement, “who’s who” of the business. With any job, it’s best to remember to always study, learn the most that you can.....and don’t get rusty! Thankfully, the internet has made it incredibly easy to UP-TO-DATE when it comes to “what’s happening,” in your business. Just the way that business men are reading Forbes and Entrepreneur magazine, actors/actresses need to know their stuff too. We’ve complied a list of go-to websites for Hollywood/Broadway news....not including us of course.... wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
1. Hollywood Reporter:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/
Box office hits, new movies, reviews, fresh faces in Hollywood and executive news. Believe it or not, you may want to know the names of those execs at the networks you are hoping to “land a gig” on....think about it.
2. Variety:
http://www.variety.com/home/
How much did that box office hit make, first week in the box office? You can find out all of that information here. Who’s directing what, who’s producing “the next big hit....,” what film conferences are happening, etc. The more you know, the better you do.
3. Entertainment Weekly:
http://www.ew.com/ew/
This is my go-to pick for all things Television. Recaps, new shows/new seasons---they’ve basically got all of the “best” TV outlined....for studying, of course. What? Actors can lear a lot from watching...a lot of tv. Fact. Or at least Tivo it, you don’t have time to sit around all day, do ya?!
4. Hitflix:
http://www.hitfix.com/
Hardcore news for celebrity/pop culture lovers. Interviews with celebs, new music forecasts, red carpet glimpes....all the good stuff.
5. Playbill.com:
http://www.playbill.com/
If you have the “Broadway bone” in your body....Playbill is (and has been) the go-to when it comes to previews of new/old Broadway and Off-Broadway plays. Everything from reviews, show announcements, tickets and video clips-- this will keep you entertained and in-the-know.
6. Deadline.com:
http://www.deadline.com/hollywood/
From Hollywood to London, all the way back to NYC, Deadline covers all of the hottest news and doesn’t miss a thing, no matter what coast you’re on. If you want to do some serious READING, no skimming, but read well written articles, informative stories and breaking tidbits, Deadline.com is the spot for you.
7. ArtsBeat:
http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/
The New York Times will never fail at bringing you inspiring pieces...this is a daily stop for me when it comes to all things related to Art and Culture.
8. The Producer’s Perspective:
http://www.theproducersperspective.com/my_weblog/
Exactly what the title says-- this blog is the unique perspective of a Broadway producer, it’s his opinion on all things Broadway, the “biz,” producing and beyond. Really a gem of a blog!
Also check out:
