Q:To whom or to what do you credit your success in the industry?
A:I think first I need to credit my success to my amazing teachers growing up. Training is key. The combination of training, competition, and summer camps/intensives give you a feel for what’s out there, and motivates you and drives you to have that competitive edge you need for this business. The 2nd which is just as important is that drive and competitiveness that I have. I have always wanted to be the best, and never accepted “No” as the end result. You need that more than anything in this business. In this industry you need to act as if you are your own agent, manager, publicist etc. Marketing yourself in this business is the only way to get ahead of the game and create a long lasting career for yourself.

Q:What has been the most fulfilling project in your career so far?
A:Doing the movie CHICAGO. I had the opportunity to work on the film for approx 6 months. Working w/ Rob Marshall was the most fulfilling, for he had the utmost respect for everyone from the star to an extra.

Q:What advice would you give to dancers just breaking into the business?
A:Be aggressive!!
You have to never accept no as the final word. I found that always trying to rely on no one Is the best thing you can do. All that ends up happening is that you end up loosing opportunities if you rely on other people.

Q:4. From your experience infront of and behind the table in auditions, what tips can you offer to performers?
A:Be confident. Be prepared. Be smart. No what you are getting yourself into. Pay attention. Many times people in auditions get so into their own heads that they really don’t listen to what the director or choreographer are asking for.

Q:Are there any lessons you learned through experience that you wished you’d known sooner?
A:Are there any lessons you learned through experience that you wished you’d known sooner? There is a quote that always makes me laugh now that I understand it’s meaning. “Talent has nothing to do with it”. And to be honest it is very true. Auditioning day after day and thinking that I was always one of the most talented people in the room and walking away with no job left me very frustrated. You have to be very realistic about this business and at the same time convince people there is no one better for the job but you. (even if that means they have to switch several things around in a show to make it work.)

Q:What catches your eye in a dancer?
A:Style……Passion……..Technique……..Power……Expression……..Dynamics…..and the ability to become a chameleon.

Q:Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
A:There comes a point in your life when you fight so hard for what you want. And you keep fighting and fighting and you realize you want something different but the same. I see myself choreographing TV and Film. I love working w/ kids and I also love working with dance on film. I hope to be able to continue my talents in the direction of Choreographing and performing in that aspect of the business.
