For much of your career you will attempt to understand your “type”.
Firstly, you will need to know what “type” you are naturally. When you walk into a room what do people see? Ask friends, teachers and colleagues to tell you what “type” they think you are. Listen carefully and then begin your study.
You will also need to learn the standard types in Musical Theater. What are the vocal ranges and characteristics? The “Type Cast” tool organizes and defines some of the most common character types seen in Musical Theater. Under each character you will find a listing of several songs that represent that character type. This helpful guide will give you a place to begin your study.
